As part of my final year of university, I had to work on a project for six months. My project was called "Gauntlet", a 4-minute-long, stylised, 3D animation. It's sci-fi-action and the story is about these six characters who take part in a sporting event that uses sci-fi armour and superpower-like abilities. I created this animation using a mixture of motion capture and hand animation in Autodesk Maya, as well as some additional effects added in Adobe After Effects. The animation can be found below. One of the modules I took in my final year of university was Effects Animation. As part of this module, we had to create an effect that related to this year's degree show, "FutureProof". I was already part of the team working on the degree show, being part of the team that was creating a video for "The Dome", a room that plays 360 videos. I decided to create an opening for the dome as my assignment. The idea was for the logo of FutureProof to light up, as if being set alight. Then a wall of fire would rise around the walls of the dome, revealing the main video behind it. Below is a 360-degree YouTube video to emulate what it would have looked like in the dome. Click and drag to look around. I've also used my final year project environment as a placeholder for the main video.

One of my modules during my final year at university was Rigging and Motion Capture. As part of this module we had to create a short, animated piece using our motion capture studio. My animation was of two guys who enter a haunted house, but when they do strange things start to happen. I recorded, and edited, all of the motion capture for this project myself. The animation can be found below as well as a breakdown video.

During my final year at university I was part of the team that put on our degree show, an exhibition where students show of their projects to industry guest, lecturers and other students. As part of this degree show we had access to a room called "The Dome". The dome is a room with a planetarium-like screen which plays 360 videos. It was my responsibility to create a video to play in the dome. The video was going to be a collage of students work from across all years but we needed a way to transition between different student's work. I came up with the idea of using a lift environment. The lift would rise from the ground and close around the audience. When it opened again, it would be a new environment. Not only that but the lift would have lots of students 2D work stuck to the walls of the lift. Below is a rendered frame of the environment.

While in my second year at university I decided to go to the final year students Motion Capture lectures as this was something I wanted to learn about and I wouldn't get taught this until my final year. After I had been to a few of the lectures and workshops I worked on creating my own piece of motion capture. I used our own motion capture studio and then edited and applied the animation in MotionBuilder and Maya. Below is my final render, a mo-cap breakdown and a Point of Veiw render.

During my second year at university, I had a module called "3D Animation". The assignment for this module was to create a short animation using the 12 principles of animation and using a factory robot provided. I wanted to push myself more so I designed, modelled and rigged a robot hand myself instead of the basic model given to us. I used forward kinematics as well as inverse kinematics when rigging to make animating it easier. The animation I made was of two robots having a "boxing" match. Below is my final animation.

For an assignment at university I was tasked to make a 3D, hard surface model, in Maya to industry entry level standard. I decided to make a spaceship. As part of this assignment I had to model, texture and light my idea in Maya. Below is a turntable of my model, a breakdown, a short animation and two rendered stills as well.

For an assignment at university I was given two artists, Abram Games and A M Cassandre. From these two artists I had to research and come up with an artefact from a connection that I found between them. The connection that I found was that they were both inspired by surrealism. From this I made a 3D animation in Blender about their posters coming to life and interacting with each other. I used Blender for the animation, Adobe Premiere Pro to edit it and Logic Pro X for the sound. Below you can see the animation that I created.
